But the internet can also be a scary place filled with cyberbullying, which is why Instagram is testing a new feature that’ll let you hide comments from someone without them knowing it.
Can you hide comments on Instagram live when watching?
In a blog post Tuesday, Instagram revealed that it would begin testing an update to its app that’ll hide potentially offensive comments as part of an effort to help people feel safer on the platform. To do this, Instagram will use existing artificial intelligence systems to detect bullying and harassing language in comments. It will then hide those comments and give the option to users to tap “View Hidden Comments” if they want to see those comments.
Instagram will only hide comments on instagram for posts that are being shared publicly and not private posts. You’ll still be able to see these comments when you go back and view them. If you do want to see these hidden comments, you can do so by tapping the person icon and going to your profile. From there, you can view all your posted content and click the three horizontal dots on a post to see the comments that have been hidden.
If you don’t want to see a particular comment, you can also block that user from making comments on your posts in the future by visiting your profile and selecting the person icon at the bottom of your screen. From there, you can select the three horizontal dots on a post and then choose the option to “Block This Account.”
